Reinert Kiil has certainly earned his stripes in the horror genre, working on the artistic direction for the beloved and well-remembered Dead Snow (2009), one of Norwegian horror film’s high points, and Cold Prey (2006), another one we will never forget. So Reinert will not be letting us down. What is more, two of the three main characters in Huset are Nazis, and even though they aren’t zombies this time, they work beautifully. They are evilly comical, but rather thoughtfully perverse. Hitler’s men work well in scary movies. Especially if they have some debt to repay worked into the script. Especially if there’s certain paranormal activity in the house where they seek shelter… Especially if they decide to lower the Norwegian flat and hoist the swastika…
