| A
tale from New Zealand about the sea, the smell of salt and rotten fish,
weather-beaten men who sail the seas in search of fish. But one day among
they catch unloaded onto the boat they discover a rather unusual species,
big, with the head and trunk of a woman... Daryl Hannah? No. Cherie James.
A mermaid caught in their nets. The fishermen don’t know what to
do with her. Some of them are fascinated and take care of her. The others
only see her as a question of money. Shot documentary style, with testimonies
by the stars of the story, Delores maintains its sense
of humour in scenes like the Captain Birdseye fish finger adverts (in
this case of the “queen of the seas”, drawing included). Second
short film directed by Adam Stevens. The former, Beautiful,
was set on a boat during a day’s fishing. |
