Double Vision
(2002). Chen Kuo-fu. China-Taiwán. 113 minutos
If we ever feel scorned as movie eaters by the exquisite lovers of forum and arthouse films, we’d fly as our flag the name of Chen Kuo-Fu, expert in Hitchcock, experienced critic, excellent creator of special effects, whose genre movies -the fantasy genre of course, but others too- wander with pomp and circumstance through the different sections of festivals as tremendous as the Cannes festival. And quite rightly too. This, his latest title, is a big production by Columbia’s Asian Department in which the highest technology, the most lethal too, is put at the service of divine-diabolic sects who believe that immortality is achieved through illness, pain and horror.
