Están vivos
(They Live, 1988). Estados Unidos. 93 minutos
The aliens are here. And they’re capitalists. They buy in our stores, walk along our streets, control the media, exhaust the natural resources of the planet Earth (later they’ll move on to another one) and make deals with our bankers. Nada, played by ex-wrestler Roddy Piper is, as his name indicates, a loser, a man with neither luck nor good fortune, who never gives up and tries to fight against those from above, from another place, those who live on another planet... Carpenter warns us of the dangers of today’s world, bids us to struggle against the inequality and unfairness of today’s society in this movie of Orwellian flavour. The baddies try to alienate the humans by inciting them to watch the television, to obey, not to use their imagination, to marry and reproduce.
