Fantasmas de Marte, de John Carpenter
(Ghosts of Mars, 2001). Estados Unidos. 101 minutos
A cop outfit led by Pam Grier (back on planet Carpenter) and Natasha Henstridge (who brought the Festival to a close some years back with her movie debut, Species) has to transfer dangerous criminal “Desolation” Williams (played by an Ice Cube of permanently angry expression). We’re on Mars a few decades on. A mineral extracting colony. Something’s happened. The humans have turned into monsters who sharpen their teeth (in the literal sense of the word), paint their faces and cover their bodies in piercings. Have they gone modern on us? No, it’s even worse: they’ve become some kind of ghosts, zombies whose only desire is to kill... It’s their planet. We’re the aliens.
