of the Golden Fleece, which he has to give his evil Uncle Pelias (Dennis
Hopper in one of these baddie parts he plays so brilliantly) in exchange
for his mother’s life. Nick Willing, maker of the sensational Photographing
Fairies and who last year opened the Festival with Doctor
Sleep, directs this two-episode series by Hallmark Entertainment
set around a legend adapted to cinema on several occasions (the most famous
of which was released in 1963 by Don Chaffey, with special effects by
Ray Harryhausen). Centaurs, gods and heroes, battles, Derek Jacobi and
Natasha Henstridge, giant dragons, vengeance and death. |
