tone is set from the very beginning. It’s obvious that if someone
dies filled with fury in a place, that the place in question will be cursed,
that many other deaths will take place there and that the curse will never
wane as lives go by. They compare The Grudge, of course,
with The Ring, they tell us that the second part will
be released at Sitges and inform us that its director is already working
on his third movie, while we shudder at the incredible ability of Asian
filmmakers to cause in our soul and our body an unease, an anxiety, a
rotten feeling, impressive, unbeatable, using very ancient weapons: a
child shouting at the top of a stairway, whitened faces, an extremely
dense soundtrack... |
