| La
sombra de Frankenstein (Son of Frankenstein, 1939) . Rowland V. Lee. Estados Unidos, 100 min. |
| After Doctor Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein came the third film in the series, the original title of which is Son of Frankenstein. And that’s precisely what it’s about. The doctor’s son, called Wolf, also a doctor, naturally, comes to the family mansion with the intention of moving in with his wife and kid. There they meet the sinister Ygor, no more and no less than Bela Lugosi in a movie about Frankenstein, the part gossip would have it he didn’t want to play because his face would disappear beneath the monster’s makeup. Boris Karloff is also there, given that the creature is not completely dead, but is only waiting for a new Frankenstein to bring it back to life. And who better to do so than Basil Rathbone? And just in case we were missing anything, Lionel Atwill plays the peculiar Inspector Krogh, who is in charge of solving the case. The best there is. |
