Kozure Okami: Meifu Mado
(1974). Kenji Misumi. Japón. 89 minutos
In the early 70s, actor Shintaro Katsu, star of countless movies about the legendary blind hero Zatoichi (omnipresent in the history of Japanese cinema, in 2003 he discovered a new adaptation by Takeshi Kitano), decided to take the comic series Kozure Okami to the big screen. He converted his brother, Tomisaburo Wakayama and his wide experience in samurai movies, into the star of the tale. Katsu produced the first three instalments, and Wakayama the three sequels. This is the fifth in the series, directed by Kenji Misumi, a true creator of the saga’s visual aspect, given that he directed the first three adventures of Ogami Itto and his son. Here, the “Lone Wolf” has to take on five warriors.
