| Famous
character of popular North American literature born in 1886, Nick Carter
stars in this fantastic, surrealist film directed by the maker of Lemonade
Joe. On this occasion, Lipsky pays tribute to and parodies with
tremendous tenderness detective movies, embodied here in the figure of
a Nick Carter who has to go to Prague to solve the mysterious disappearance
of a dog. There he meets an old friend, “The Gardener”, who
eliminates his enemies with Adela, a carnivorous plant with an appetite
whetted by classical music. The investigator turns his hand in the carrying
out of his mission to all sorts of fantastic gadgets, including shoes
with suction pads permitting him to climb walls or a bicycle with pedals
that flies. Delirious, imaginative, full of invention and with continuous
references to the cinema of master Zeman, the film is an obvious example
of Lipsky’s talent. |
