Prop & Berta
(Prop & Berta, 2001). Per Fly y Janis Cimmermanis. Dinamarca. 73 minutos
Prop inherits a house deep in the woods. Next to him lives a witch who hates her neighbours and whose greatest ambition is to be the most evil creature in the world. The locals all want Prop to leave before the witch’s anger is roused, but Prop decides to stay and fight with the help of Berta, a temperamental talking cow. Second feature by Danish director Per Fly, Prop & Berta was born of the characters created by Bent Solhof, extremely popular in Denmark in recent years, and who have played the leading role in over thirty stories. The film is produced by Zentropa Entertainments, a company owned by Lars von Trier and Peter Aalbaek Jensen. The voices of Prop and Berta are lent by two prestigious Danish actors, Otto Brandenburg and Paprika Steen, actress par excellence of the Dogma movement.
