Special
effects are a vital part of fantasy movies, creating impossible images
that have us all dreaming. The Festival pays tribute with this exhibition
to Emilio Ruiz, a specialist whom with his models and glass shot has worked
on over 450 films. The exhibition will moreover include drawings and models
used by Ruiz in his work over recent decades.
Emilio Ruiz debuted in 1942 on Florián Rey’s movie The
Cursed Village. He has worked on films including The Humanoid
(1979), Supersonic Man (1979), Conan the Barbarian
(1980), Dune (1984), The Girl of Your Dreams
(1998) or Soldiers of Salamina (2003). Winner of two
Goya awards for best special effects, Ruiz is one of the most important
model and special effects creators of recent years.
