Village of the Damned
(El pueblo de los malditos, 1995). Estados Unidos. 99 minutos
In 1960, Wolf Rilla adapted the work of prolific British writer John Wyndham The Midwich Cuckoos to create one of the best films ever shot about an alien invasion on our planet: Village of the Damned. More than three decades later, John Carpenter drinks both from the literary original and from Rilla’s movie, to direct a new version of the tale of these threatening children with shining eyes and white hair born in Midwich who move around in groups and whose objective is to conquer the world. Christopher Reeve takes over from George Sanders as the local doctor, the scientist who tries to understand the creatures before confronting them to try and stop their progress and save humanity from destruction. Note the participation of Mark Hamill, the unforgettable Luke Skywalker, as the mad village priest.
