Locked in a 19th century mansion, nine children live on the receiving end of abuse from a woman of frosty appearance who likes the youngsters to call her “mother”. Short freely based on the life of the madam, healer and killer Enriqueta, popularly known as “the vampire of Ponent street”, who terrorised Barcelona in the early 20th century.
