Movies, video games... And Horror! What frightens you more, horror films or horror video games? How have the two disciplines related over time? How do they enrich one another? What resources do they use to terrify us? In the following events we want to answer these and many other questions, travelling through time and hell as we go.
October 10, 11 and 12. Hell-Hackaton. It’s time the Festival had its own official video game or games. So, for three non-stop days, professionals, buffs and the inquisitive will create video games inspired in the Festival’s 25 years of history. Movie and video game fans! We need you to make a success of this one-off, unrepeatable mission!
October 22. OnceUponAtimeInHell. First talk. We’ll take a look at past relations between the video game and horror movie worlds. Like those endearing versions for Atari 2600 of Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or the version of A Nightmare on Elm Street for NES.
October 23. HellAwaitsToday. Second talk. We’ll take a look at present relations between the video game and horror movie worlds. We’ll discuss Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Doom... Possibly, very possibly, we’ll talk about Uwe Boll... We’d like to apologise for that beforehand.
October 24. StraightToHell. Workshop on narrative experimentation. We’ll reflect on how relations between the video game and horror movie worlds may develop in the future. And we’ll do it in practical mode, creating the prototype for an immersive, transmedia experience.
And where will it all happen? Well, in the 2016 Space (Calle Easo, 43).
