The film from New Zealand What We Do in the Shadows, by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, has won the Audience Award to the Best Feature Film at the 25th San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, that finishes tonight with the screening of The Guest.

This morning has been presented the full program of the 25th San Sebastian Horror & Fantasy Film Festival, that will take place between October 25th and November 1st. As always, it will present a selection of the most important titles of the year, feature and short films, and some other activities.

“Alleluia” wins the 2014 Méliès d’Or Award

The 2014 Méliès d'Or Award to the Best European Fantastic Film went to Alleluia, directed by Fabrice du Welz. The film will be screened at the 25th San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival (October 25 - November 1).

Shrew's Nest

“Shrew's Nest” to open the Horror and Fantasy Film Festival on October 25

On Saturday October 25, the Teatro Principal will hold open the 25th San Sebastián Horror and Fantasy Film Festival by screening Shrew's Nest (2014), a Spanish film directed by Juanfer Andrés and Esteban Roel and produced by Álex de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang through Pokeepsie Films.

The Festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a poster paying homage to its own history and the fantasy genre

The artist behind the poster is none other than Jack Mircala (Madrid, 1968), an old friend of the Festival to which he is returning with a spectacular, densely-packed model used to pay a certain homage to both the fantasy genre and the festival. To bring these characters to life, the artist has used materials such as construction paper, scissors, glue and coloured pencils to make this tiny "theatre".

"24 weeks later" retrospective

This years retrospective will bring some of the most representative films screened during the history of the festival back.


The submissions period opens on June 15th

On 15th June the registration period opens (with changes) to present works for the 25th San Sebastián Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, that will take place between 25th October and November 1st. The submission period finishes on August 15th. Rules and submission
