We're getting the idea: the end of the world will either be with zombies, or not. But zombies, the stuff of our nightmares, are neither created nor destroyed: they transform. In this British film that kicks off with the words all of the best stories begin with (Once Upon a Time), a half-zombie, half-human girl and a great literary and cinematographic character narrates how it all began and the people like her, a hybrid generation, could be a source of hope in this elegant, serene and atrocious film where, yes, Glenn Close, Paddy Considine and Gemma Arterton all do act, but the girl who makes the movie is called Sennia Nanua. The novel it is based on is originally entitled Iphigenia in Aulis.
