This is the first (master) opus by a boy who watched "The Twilight Zone" (1959-1964) with his parents, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) or The Night of the Hunter (1955), and when he grew up, he wanted to make a movie with a murderer. He wanted to create a Hannibal Lecter, but not give us the peace of mind of thinking that we could believe Clarice. He wanted something more sinister, more dark. He wanted us to be Francisca, the main character in The Eyes of My Mother, whose only company as a girl was the man who killed her mother... The film is a true love letter, in beautiful yet disconcerting black and white, to horror films from time past. No gores, no slasher. Film made with a camera and characters who, in 77 minutes, will shake you to the core.
