One of the enfants terribles and spoilt youngsters of French-speaking Canadian movies takes a triple death jump into the horror genre-cum-zombie subgenre-cum-cannibal apocalypse subgenre to film out there in the countryside and forests of Quebec this movie with clearly defined characters (the hipster with a wound that never seems to heal, the farmer who just killed his parents, the supposed hero) whom he proceeds to obliterate and better obliterate with some of his own obsessions. The recommendations, for survivors and spectators alike, are simple: “Don’t make a noise, don’t leave your weapon for anything in the world and, above all, run!”. If you carefully follow these rules you’ll enjoy a film so eclectic that it smacks of Bresson, Romero and Monty Python.
