Elaine is an attractive young witch. Her mind is set on finding a man to love her, so she creates spells and potions in her Victorian-style apartment. Her incantations work and one by one men fall at her feet. But things get out of hand. She has to take (drastic) measures but there's no way to stop what she's started. Filmed with a careful retro flavour that pays homage to the thrillers and colour melodramas of the 50s and 60s, from Hitchcock to Sirk, and with an underlying humour throughout, this original and elegant movie explores female fantasies and the consequences of unbridled narcissism.
