Saturday 27 October, the Teatro Principal will inaugurate the 29th Horror and Fantasy Film Festival of San Sebastian with a viewing of Overlord (2018), J. J. Abrams' latest production, directed by Julius Avery.
On the eve of D-Day, during WWII, a group of American soldiers on a mission in Normandy get trapped behind enemy lines after their plane crashes. When they reach their objective, they realise that they don't only have to fight Nazi soldiers. No, they also encounter blood-thirsty creatures who are the result of secret experiments conducted by the Germans.
Overlord is the second feature-length film directed by Julius Avery (Son of a Gun, 2014), based on a script written by Billy Ray –Captain Phillips (2013), Secret in Their Eyes (2015) (which he also directed)– and Mark L. Smith –The Revenant (2015), Martyrs (2015)–. It stars Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, John Magaro, Bokeem Woodbine and Iain De Caestecker.
The film is one of the latest productions by one of the most important men in Hollywood today, J. J. Abrams, producer and/or director of the latest films in the series Star Wars, Star Trek, Mission: Impossible and Cloverfield, and series including Lost (2004-2010) and Westworld (2016-2018).
Paramount Pictures Spain is distributing the film, set to premiere in autumn.
