It's not only that Philippot competed at Sitges fantastic but that, and this is great, we're programming his feature at the Festival just when he's had a flick agreed to at Sundance. Following its mega-release throughout France, La Nuée comes with a brilliant dirty, bitter slant. La Nuée follows the obsession for her creatures of a woman who breeds and sells crickets. At first as a delicatessen appetiser, in the style of the Mexican grasshoppers. Later as meal for geese and ganders. For both the former and the latter you need unique, plump, healthy-looking specimens. And what's the best nutrient to achieve that excellence? Look out for the leading lady, Suliane Brahim, from the Comédie Française: she shares her bone structure with Charlotte Gainsbourg. I swear it.
