St Pauli district, Hamburg, in the 70s. A red light district frequented by drunks, prostitutes, gamblers and other lone souls. At first glance, Fritz Honka is a loser. The man with the deformed face wanders the night in search of solitary women in the local dive. None of the regulars suspect that the apparently inoffensive Honka is in fact a monster. The latest film from Fatih Akin adapts the brutal true story of serial killer Fritz Honka, known as "the ripper of St. Pauli", who struck fear in the hearts of the residents of Hamburg during the early 70s.
