Jenn Wexler has guts. And a number of prestigious awards. She won the John Cassavetes at the Independent Spirit Awards, for example, for her boldness in producing Ana Asensio's Most Beautiful Island (2017), a wonderful work about an undocumented girl. But Jenn is also a lady of horror. The Ranger (2018) sent a shiver down the spine of audiences at the Boston Underground Festival, and now The Sacrifice Game (an intriguing blend of three sub-genres: housebreaking murderers, girls' boarding school Gothic and Christmas bloodbath) was chosen by the audience as the best Canadian film at Fantasia 2023.
