Detroit cop Alex J. Murphy is killed while on duty. To wipe out crime in the city, the authorities approve the creation of a lethal machine, half man, half robot, that they call RoboCop, and use Murphy's body to manufacture it. The experiment seems to be a success, but despite being dead, the police officer retains his memory, and decides to take revenge on his killers.
