Belgian horror. Why not? It is the land of Magritte, one of whose paintings inspired the poster (and more) of The Exorcist (1973). Belgian horror acclaimed in Toronto, where it was featured in the Midnight Madness sessions. A romance. Between a melancholic man and a woman of elegant gait. Nice. Until the epidemic breaks out. And with it, the nightmare. The film begins with a perfectly normal line of dialogue: “are you okay?”, but in this context it proves highly meaningful, because Anx (yes, his name comes from anxiety) is never okay, there is always some paranoia lying in wait… Curiously enough, some in Canada suggested that Else could be an urban version of Alex Garland's Annihilation (2018).
