During a heavy downpour, a monk comes across a little cat that he names Anzu, and lovingly cares for. 30 years later, however, and the little cat has not only not died, but has become a "ghost cat", talking and living like a person. At the age of 37, he rides around on a moped and works part-time as a masseur. One day, the old monk asks Anzu to look after his 11-year-old granddaughter Karin, who has been abandoned by her father. Anzu reluctantly agrees. To begin with, their lively personalities clash and sparks fly, but little by little they work towards an understanding. And then Karin asks Anzu a favour: she wants to see her dead mother again. This is the starting point for a dramatic journey which will take them into hell itself.
