These brothers from Latvia have a short entitled Castratus the Boar (2015) and a feature film about psychological breakdown, by the name of Troubled Minds (2021). They are Lauris and Raitis Ābele, and we could even cite a third brother, Mārcis, who is the director of photography. Together, the three of them have filmed (in animation) the most beastly, impure, impious, lustful film you could hope to see at the Festival, which nonetheless ties in to an extent with Urkijo's Gaua (2025). We are in Livonia, in the 18th century. Rain falls. We are carousing at the village inn. At the bar, the innkeeper is a witch, and in the palace, the Lord is impotent… In the church, the cruel priest reveres a sacred relic that someone is about to steal… You will be hung, bound, imprisoned for 93 minutes by the fascinating, obscene, vibrant rotoscopic animation of Aigars Gercāns and Harijs Grundmanis.
