Autumn 2023. Akutsu, an ageing convict serving a life sentence, is nearing the end of his life. A housenka flower says to him: "What a horrible life you had!". Akutsu begins to recall the summer of 1986, when he lived happily with Nana and their son Kensuke, in a rundown apartment with a garden full of housenkas. This is the story of a dying yakuza and his family, told one lonely night by a flower growing in prison.
