Henry Spencer, a depressive and jumpy young man, has since boyhood suffered strange nightmares from which he tries to free himself through imagination. One day, his friend Mary invites him to dinner, where he learns that he has fathered a premature and non-human child. Mary and the strange baby move into Henry's house, where an illuminated scene behind the radiator reveals the presence of a woman. David Lynch's first film, a nightmare in black and white which launched the career of one of the most important and influential creators of contemporary fantasy.
