Tomoo Haraguchi's Special Effects

The Japanese director and make-up special effects specialist, Tomoo Haraguchi, is the star of this exhibition, which will show a representative sample of his work. Monsters, masks, heads... and one of the first wolf-men in Japanese fantasy cinema –created for his film Werewolf Warrior / Bakko yokaiden. Kibakichi (2003)– are all included in this look at the Japanese artist’s universe.

Director of the fantasy feature films Mikadoroido (1991), Sakuya: Slayer of Demons / Sakuya: Yokaiden (2000) and the aforementioned Werewolf Warrior, the last two of which have been shown at previous editions of this Festival. Haraguchi worked as a make up special effects designer on films such as Gamera: The Guardian of Universe / Gamera daikaiju kuchu kessen (Shusuke Kaneko, 1995), Bullet Ballet (Shinya Tsukamoto, 1998), Eko eko azarak III (Katsuhito Ueno, 1998) or Ashura (Yojiro Takita, 2005).
