Chiyoko Fujiwara was a legendary star of Japanese film until she suddenly disappeared from public life thirty years ago. Obsessed by the enigmatic actress, the documentary maker Genya Tachibana travels to the lonely mountain refuge where she has made her home to interview her. He finds an old lady punished by passing time although she still retains the charm and energy that characterised her several decades before. In order to win her trust, Tachibana gives her an old key that he found among the remains of his old studio. As if the key had opened the door of her memory, Chiyoko starts to remember the passionate story of her life. New master work by Satoshi Kon.
