The Magus

Nicholas Urfe comes to a remote Greek island to work as an English teacher at the school after his predecessor commits suicide. He soon meets a strange character, presumed dead by many, who drags him down into a spiral of lies or half truths, of realities that are not so real, dangerous games, which he finds impossible (and undesirable) to escape. From then on, nothing will be what it seems and he will no longer have total control over his life. Michael Caine and Anthony Quinn (like Crowley’s Maurice Conchis) star in this adaptation of the novel by John Fowles (author of other works adapted for the big screen such as The Collector or The French Lieutenant’s Woman) brought to us by the British director, Guy Green.
