Autopsie du cinéma fantastique espagnol

We could never say that a documentary on new Spanish horror cinema would be bad or even vulgar when it is made by Yves Montmayeur, a French colleague who filmed Haneke during the shoot for The White Ribbon and Caché, or produced a portrait of Miike Takashi, followed by Johnnie To and his camera! He also chatted with Tarantino at the Cines Príncipe in San Sebastian whilst they both stood in line to see the retrospective dedicated to Richard Brooks’ cinema at the Festival. It would not be a worthy documentary if its subtitle didn’t read Autopsie du cinéma fantastique espagnol, lasting 56 minutes, and featuring Bayona, Balagueró, Plaza and… us, the Festival’s screaming girl. We appear as caricatures with the right to shriek about it. It made its debut, by the way, to squeals of horror at the “Españolas en París” festival held on the rive gauche of the Seine.
