The Cottage

The director took a really long time looking for support and financing for this totally retro horror film including kidnapping, mafias, Chinese and rural monster. As nobody even remotely listened to him, he filmed something much more serious and black which was universally successful: London to Brighton. Afterwards he got enough sterling together to put on this marvellous delirium, which is pure, brutal, intrinsic and centrifugally totally British. It is also subsidised by the Isle of Man and the county of Yorkshire (Wuthering Heights country). Praised in Sitges, The Cottage is uncouth yet clearly defined as a mixture between Fargo and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Great, really great.
