The red water, full of lethal substances, oozing from a poorly sealed, giant pond in Hungary that killed four people and almost turned the Blue Danube blood red was holy water compared to what Claire and her wonderful family of up and coming farmers have produced in the ponds on their land after discovering a fertiliser that, effectively, makes anything it touches grow. In fact, we might say that it makes them grow ex-ce-si-ve-ly, making it easier for it to erode your entrails. Giant wild boar, one of those families that you could live without, great special effects (from Nomansland), an evilly animated forest and a production company, Rezo Films, that is equally capable of presenting a Xabier Dolan’s film at Cannes (section Un Certain Regard) as bringing John Sayles to Zinemaldia with his Amigo. It is directed by the author of a short film with a title indicating his film-oriented intentions: L’abominable malédiction du peintre Gray.
