First shown in its home country in November 2009, this year it went to Sitges without having received the slightest attention from the Variety critics or the wicked creatures at the Rottentomatoes website. They’ll have to get a move on because this German film will go a long way. It starts with an artist screwing someone he shouldn’t (his neighbour) whilst his little girl goes hunting butterflies close to a pool where, logically, she will fall in and drown. This causes a major breakdown in the artist’s psyche for whom the compassionate script will open a door of opportunity. Whilst it might seem that we are entering something like a mix of Back to the Future, The Time Machine and Timecrimes we are actually in a sophisticated version of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers where triffids are already something more than giant plants. Of course, just like in The Clinic there are mums (and dads) that will kill for their daughters.
